I have always been inspired and intrigued by the Cowrie Shell. From its use as money across the African Diaspora, as hair and body adornment, and as a connection to our ancestors lost to sea in the transatlantic slave trade. Shells hold our stories, our lineage, loss and love. 

My brand is named because Bead is the currency of Black femmes and Cowrie is the currency of my people.
