I grew up around Black folx who grew things. my granny had an orchard of peaches in her backyard and her house plants were behemoth. them people who raised me often had a garden. by the time the pandemic hit, plants were a place i could be and know myself via how I cared for them. plant shops with outdoor space were some of the first spaces that were open and safely accessible when we came out of lockdown.
