BespokeCurry exists because no single discipline could hold the way I work. Give me a material, a medium, a system, or a set of ingredients and I understand how to enter into creative relationship with it. I study how it behaves, find the connections, and move an idea into form.

Across this practice, Afro hair becomes terrain and technology; food becomes memory and creative direction; cannabis and fungi become plant relationship; movement becomes regulation; adornment becomes infrastructure. Sound, color, writing, education, performance, and production are not side paths. They are ways the same creative intelligence travels.

The Wata(ring) W(hole), The Tings, Afroscape, Bead and Cowrie, and BlackCurry Productions are distinct worlds within that ecology. Each changes the material and scale, but not the method: encounter, study, experiment, connect, develop, and execute.

AfABC · Z/26 · Z Is for Zed & Zenith — Afro ABCs Observatory Transmission

The Afro ABCs begin at the end. In this Observatory transmission, Kiing Curry opens Z is for Zed & Zenith by returning to the Black body as blueprint. Afro hair becomes litm(us), compass and antenna: sensing the internal atmosphere, receiving the external world and recording what the body has absorbed. The transmission examines the constant pulling, tugging and yanking of Afro hair toward gravity—and what is disrupted when an antenna is flattened, broken or trained toward palatable Afro(ness). Through reverse osmo(cis) and Mycelial Sankofa, Z becomes the opening coordinate for a backward journey through the alphabet: tracing what survived, gathering what still nourishes and composting what taught us to disappear. You are the blueprint. You are the beginning and the return. Your hair already understands how to rise.

Observe Tings is brought to you by the letter A for The Almighty Spliff. BespokeCurry follows the relationship between Cannabis and tobacco through Black weed culture, scarcity, pleasure, colonial extraction, neurodivergent regulation and Mycelial Sankofa. From funnel and spliffs to tobacco’s place in Black agricultural history, this Cannabis Field Note asks what becomes possible when we move beyond good plant/bad plant binaries and pay attention to relationship, moderation and what the body actually notices.
