Phase — Creative Direction + Worldbuilding for Film & Performance
Jessy Wilson

This project involved collaboration with an artist whose actions later caused personal harm. I include the work because it remains part of my professional and creative history. Some existing credits associated with the project also identify my role incorrectly.
For Phase, I served as Creative Director, developing the visual world surrounding the artist’s music across film, photography, styling, performance, and public appearance. The project is an example of how I work across disciplines: beginning with an idea or existing body of material, studying what it is trying to communicate, and building the visual, material, and spatial relationships necessary to move that idea into execution.
My work included concept development, hair design and styling, wardrobe, prop creation, set dressing, spatial design, and on-camera performance. Rather than treating these as separate services, I used them as interconnected materials for building a coherent world around the music. Texture, color, silhouette, objects, environment, movement, and cultural reference all became part of the same visual language.
I also worked directly in production and performance contexts, supporting the artist at gigs and appearances and extending the visual language beyond the camera frame. The work therefore moved from concept into physical execution: sourcing, making, styling, dressing environments, working with bodies in space, and responding to the conditions of production as they changed.
This project sits within the longer development of my creative methodology. Whether I am working with a garment, a body, a room, an image, food, hair, sound, an educational environment, or an entire system, I enter into creative relationship with the material, learn its possibilities and constraints, make connections across disciplines, and develop those relationships into something that can actually be experienced.
