Bespokecurry / Self-Directed Practice

My writing practice moves between personal archive, embodied research, cultural criticism, foodways, Black studies, neurodivergence, material practice, cannabis, fungi, astrology, memory, and place. I do not approach these as separate subjects. Writing is one of the ways I trace the relationships between them.

BespokeCurry has become the primary container for this work: an evolving archive where lived experience can move into research, research can move into theory, theory can return to the body, and one essay can open a portal into another. I write through observation, memory, history, sensory experience, archival material, and the questions that emerge from actually living with an idea rather than standing outside it.

My writing practice also extends beyond the essay. I develop editorial systems, educational texts, field notes, recipes, research frameworks, proposals, scripts, artist statements, interpretive material, and conceptual language for larger creative projects. Writing is often where a world becomes legible before I translate it into image, object, installation, curriculum, food, gathering, or another material form.

The BespokeCurry Cosmos is increasingly the architecture holding these texts together. Rather than treating each piece as isolated content, I build connections between them—recurring ideas, symbols, practices, histories, and questions accumulating into a living body of work.
